This is a contents page from the magazine NME. This contents page isnt called ‘contents’ its title is ‘THIS WEEK’ which is more laid back compared to the title being ‘contents’.  The logo, in the top right hand corner is the same for the front cover of the magazine, i think keeping the consistency of placement in images and text keeps the audience interested as well as keeping the magazine looking professional. The colours that are used are; white, black, red and yellow. These colours are consistant with the colour scheme and house style of the magazine.  The contents page is very busy as it has a lot of information on it and only a small number of images. NME use subheadings to seperate articles this is a helpful way for the readers to find what they want to read easily and quickly.  On the left hand side of the page there is a column named ‘BAND INDEX’ this is useful for the reader as if tells the audience what bands are featured on what pages. The images used in the centre of the page are Oasis. This would be eye catching to anyone who is a fan of this band, the wording underneath the images would also be eye catching as it says ‘Oasis kicked off their world tour’ the readers would want to know why this has happened and therefore would want to read the magazine. I think that the main selling point to the magazine as a whole, not just this issue, would be the section in the middle bottom of the page. Telling the audience that if they subscribe with this issue they will save 33% which would draw attention as it is saving the readers money but they are still getting the information they want. This section also has the magazine’s website which the audience could use to get information about artists, shows, reviews ECT. Another unique selling point for this magazine is the bottom right hand corner of the contents page; it states ‘THE UK’S NO1 GIG GUIDE’ the wording of this statement alone would be a selling point as it says it’s the UK number 1, implying it is the best guide available.

NME Double page spread

This is a double page spread from the magazine NME on the left hand side the image covers the entire page and continues onto the left page as well. The image consits Florance from Florance and the Machines. The costume used would be seen as sexual as she is wearing a very short black dress and black high heels. Her facial expression, i would say is blank, but she is looking directly at the audience. The colour scheme here is the same as the front cover and contetns page as it uses black and white with red. It also uses silver. Which like Q have added an extra colour for the double page spread. The article is on the right hand page and it is started with a drop captial ‘D’ (also like the Q double page spread article) i think they have done this to add to the appeal of the article. Unlike the Q magazine double page spread Q have used three colunms for the article which i think looks better over all that two. Again i think they have done this to add to the appeal of the article because their target audience wouldn’t want to read blocks of text.
